Campaign signatures
A Mailtiv campaign puts a signature in place between the dates you choose, then moves people back to their normal signature or a fallback you pick. Dates run in your company timezone, so nobody has to change anything by hand.
A campaign switches email signatures on and off by date. You prepare a signature for a trade fair, a holiday greeting or a product launch, choose the start and end dates, and Mailtiv puts it in place on those dates and takes it away again.
How it works
You create campaigns under Campaigns in the Mailtiv portal. The wizard has four steps:
- Select New Campaign.
- Basics: give the campaign a name.
- Schedule: set the start and end date. Dates start at 00:00 in your company timezone (set under Settings → Regional).
- Entries: pick the signature to use during the campaign (Primary signature) and, optionally, the one to switch to when it ends (Fallback signature).
- Review, then Publish. Or select Save as Draft to finish later.
Your campaign is saved as a draft as you move through the steps. If you leave the wizard early, you'll find the draft in the list; delete it there if you don't need it.
For every step with screenshots, see the Campaigns section of the Portal guide.
Which signature is used while a campaign runs?
While a campaign is running, it replaces the normal signature of the people it targets. For example, during a campaign you can change the signatures of your marketing and sales teams by department. When the campaign ends, those people go back to their normal signature or the fallback you chose.
A campaign moves from Draft to Scheduled, Active and then Completed. The Activity tab shows what happened and when.
Good to know
- Campaigns switch on and off by themselves on their dates, within about 15 minutes of midnight in your company timezone.
- If two campaigns overlap for the same people, Mailtiv warns you before you publish.
- You can cancel a campaign at any time; people then go back to their fallback.
- Creating and editing campaigns needs the Admin or Contributor role.
Frequently asked questions
What if a campaign didn't start?
Its start date is in your company timezone. Check Settings → Regional, and check that the campaign is Scheduled rather than still a draft. It switches on within about 15 minutes.
What happens when a campaign ends?
The people it targeted go back to their normal signature, or to the fallback signature you chose in the campaign. Nobody has to do anything by hand.
Can two campaigns run on the same dates?
If two campaigns overlap for the same people, Mailtiv warns you before you publish, so you can decide which signature should be used.
Where do unfinished campaigns go?
The wizard saves your campaign as a draft as you move through the steps. You'll find an unfinished campaign as a draft in the Campaigns list; delete it there if you don't need it.
